firefox Ubiquity

August 31, 2008

I’m writing this hopefully, with the help of the firefox plug-in ubiquity, which should let me make this text here bold really easily, I’ve got a few complaints about it already, but it’s a nice tool to have.

What I would much rather have however, would be a set of plug-ins for ubiquity itself that can be installed and uninstalled very easily, preferably into categories, rather than my current state where under the menu there’s is a swamp of options and accidentally typing

m this

in as a command doesn’t come out with an MSN search(when I clearly wanted a map, who wants an MSN search when there’s google and wikipedia?), and as for the idea of grouping translate with the link to options in the menu is foolish(since link to can only be used in rich text fields, while translate can be used anywhere on any content).

I have 1 last thing I think it needs, this is a key word that translates to what is highlighted, but there is nothing to refer to the page as a whole, personally I think it would be most valuable for email or translate, maybe even with syntax highlighting for those of us who like to read code in firefox.

Comments welcome.

I’m now running XFCE

June 7, 2008

OK, over recent days I’ve been installing a few too many meta-packages that then install 50+ applications. the last straw to this was earlier this week, when I installed an ubuntu studio package with the hopes of finding a bit of dual channel audio recording software that runs well, unfortunately it also installed around 40 other applications, so I decided to reinstall. I Want This!

June 1, 2008

Isn’t this the most awesome Goku figure ever?

Most Awesome Goku

I want one but alas I lack the money this figure being $207.99 (US) that being £106 (GBP) at the current exchange rate. The upside free shipping, OK so it’s not really an upside. If anyone out there a millionaire or maybe even a billionaire could buy me this i would be very happy, but I can’t see this happening but I can hope.

If you have the money or are a billionaire then you can buy this awesome Goku from Yes Asia.

Wine RC3

May 31, 2008

Wine moved into RC3 sometime yesterday, which will mean nothing for windows users(or me actually, since I don’t use programs from windows anymore, still got wine installed though, just in case). I’m gonna stop posting about stuff like this on this blog once I find something of my own to talk about, for now though I can’t think of anything to post that’s original.

Download if you want, although they have repositories for yum and apt, so there is no reason to need to install it manually on most distributions.

Firefox RC1 released

May 30, 2008

I know this is kinda late, but the firefox 3 release candidate 1 was released a couple of weeks ago, if you have not tried it I really recommend that you do so if you have not already. I have been using the beta for a long while now(since the release of ubuntu hardy in april this year).

Oh, and it’s speed is significantly better than firefox 2. With any luck I’ll remember to post here slightly more often than never :P

What Is Edwin Shrodinger’s Quantum Zoo?

May 30, 2008

Well, Edwin Shrodinger’s Quantum Zoo is, well it’s a blog. A blog about Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Anime and Pretty Much Anything.

Quantum Zoo currently has 2 writers. Scragar a guy who’s never seen Star Wars or Star Trek and has an almost evangelical love of Linux. Then there’s me, Yagami Rimmer a guy who spends too much on manga and listens to way too many podcasts.

I hope you enjoy your visit to Edwin Shrodinger’s Quantum Zoo
